7th victim dies after van plows into pedestrians
NEW YORK (CNN) -- A seventh person has died from injuries suffered in a fatal van accident in Manhattan, authorities said Friday. Six other people were injured in the Thursday accident in which a commuter van plowed into pedestrians and then hit the back of a bus, New York City police said. Police said the driver of the van was double-parked on 6th Avenue and was asked to move the vehicle. When the van started up, it jerked forward abruptly, struck an unknown number of pedestrians, and then hit the rear of the bus. The incident occurred in Herald Square, near the original Macy's department store. The van's driver is 76, according to the New York Police Department. |
