Tornado touches down in Texas town, no injuries
MANSFIELD, Texas (Reuters) -- A tornado touched down in the center of Mansfield, Texas, damaging at least 24 buildings, including a veterinary clinic, an official said Saturday. No injuries were reported. The tornado tore through at about 9:30 p.m. EDT Friday, downing trees and power lines that caused outages across the town of 30,000 people, said Mansfield spokeswoman Belinda Willis. "We do have some major damage to businesses. It touched down just about the center of town," Willis said. Emergency crews were out Saturday morning surveying the damage. "We didn't have street lights and it was very difficult to assess damage last night," Willis said. No one was reported injured, but 10 animals from a veterinary clinic that had its roof blown off were moved to another clinic, she said. Mansfield is between Dallas and Fort Worth, just south of Arlington, Texas. Reuters contributed to this report. RELATED SITES:
