Coastal flooding kills 3 in TurkeyANKARA, Turkey -- Coastal flooding in Turkey has left at least three people dead, including a child, according to news reports. Hundreds of homes and businesses have been drenched by five consecutive days of rain, and flood waters have swept away roads, a bridge and a highway and carried overturned vehicles into the sea. The body of a child was found drowned early Monday in the ground floor of a home in the southern Mediterranean city of Mersin, The Associated Press quoted the Anatolia news agency as reporting. Earlier, a man drowned in Mersin, while a woman died from electrocution after floods pulled down a power line, Anatolia said. Heavy flooding also was reported in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya and in the Aegean port city of Izmir. |
