Survey says Web more worldwide
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A new survey indicates that as of mid-January, almost 55 percent of all Web traffic originates from outside the United States. According to a report by WebSideStory's StatMarket, US-based surfers account for 45.02 percent of traffic on the Web. Next highest is Germany, posting 5.56 percent of global Internet traffic. Canada clocks in behind Germany with 5 percent, followed by South Korea (4.57 percent), and Japan (4.35 percent). "This is a wake up call to businesses that have thought about adopting a global Internet strategy, but have yet to implement one," says Geoff Johnston, vice president of product marketing for StatMarket. "Although the U.S. still accounts for a major portion of Web traffic, we expect that percentage to continue shrinking as more people come online." RELATED SITES: See related sites about Asia |
