Singapore military jet crashes in Australia

CANBERRA, Australia -- A Singaporean military jet has crashed during a training exercise in Western Australia but the pilot ejected safely.

"It was one of their training aircraft," a spokesman for the Australian Defense Force told Reuters news agency.

"(It) appears to have had a problem in-flight. The pilot ejected safely and I believe he has been taken to hospital."

The pilot was spotted by a Search and Rescue helicopter, which picked him up.
