Bomb attack on Greek MP

A British embassy defence attache was killed by the November 17 group last June

PIRAEUS, Greece -- A Greek conservative politician was injured after a powerful bomb exploded at his home.
Vasilis Mihaloliakos, a member of parliament for the main opposition New Democracy Party, was injured in the legs and abdomen in the attack on Sunday.
His daughter and a brother escaped injury.
There was no advance warning and no claim of responsibility. Police said initial findings indicated the bomb was remotely detonated.
The three were getting out of the MP's car when the blast ripped through the ground floor of his apartment building, shattering windows at nearby shops and homes, police said.
Some passersby were also hurt by flying sherds of glass and were taken to hospital.
Police said they would not rule out the November 17 group, which has killed 23 people since emerging in 1975, as possibly being behind the bombing.
The group shot dead a British diplomat as he was driving to work in June, prompting renewed criticism from Greece's allies on its anti-terrorism record.
November 17 described the assassination of a Stephen Saunders, the defence attache at the British embassy in Athens, as its "most important" operation in 25 years."
Reuters contributed to this report.
