Six held after Irish drugs bustDUBLIN, Ireland -- Irish police have arrested six people following one of the republic's largest recent drug seizures. Police said on Tuesday that drug squad officers uncovered six kilogrammes of heroin with a street value of IR£2 million ($2.23 million) during a big anti-drugs drive in Dublin. The six people held, four of whom were from Scotland, one from England and one from Ireland, were arrested late on Monday in the Irish capital. Detectives also seized £200,000 ($283,474) in cash, a police spokesman said. The drugs had been found hidden in a spare wheel, which was transferred from an English-registered car to an Irish-registered vehicle. Police sources said the surveillance operation, which had been taking place for several months, had undermined a major heroin-smuggling gang. Reuters contributed to this report. RELATED SITES:
