Montenegro election factsA total of 13 political parties and coalitions will compete in Sunday's early elections in Montenegro. The main challenge will be fought by two opposing coalitions -- Victory belongs to Montenegro, in favour of Montenegro's independence and Together for Yugoslavia, in favour of the preservation of Yugoslavia as a State. The coalition for Montenegro's independence is headed by the current President Milo Djukanovic and is formed by his party the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and by the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Together for Yugoslavia is lead by Predrag Bulatovic, the leader of the Socialist People's Party, who used to support former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic. Opinion polls indicate that Djukanovic's coalition would win between 42% and 47% of the votes, while Bulatovic's coalition would score anywhere between 25% and 36% of the votes. Djukanovic has called the Together for Yugoslavia coalition "a coalition of destroyers of Montenegro." The coalition Together for Yugoslavia has accused Djukanovic of being "the last dictator in Europe," preparing a major election fraud. Djukanovic's allies control state media and most newspapers in Montenegro. Bulatovic has accused the Montenegrin president of using the state apparatus to run his own propaganda. Djukanovic is also being accused by his opponents in Montenegro of seeking independence to pursue his own criminal activities such as smuggling cigarettes and drugs. The coalition for Yugoslavia will not organise a referendum in case they win the elections. CNN's Alessio Vinci contributed to this report RELATED STORIES:
