Timeline: Milosevic extradition

This is how the dramatic extradition of ex-Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic unfolded on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday June 28

12.00 p.m. local time (1000 GMT) -- Head of Yugoslavia's Constitutional court, Milutin Srdic resigns before hearing on decree allowing Milosevic extradition

- Hearing starts at Yugoslavia's highest Constitutional court

- Hours later judges on the Constitutional Court suspend a federal government decree enabling Milosevic's handover

- Milosevic's legal team toast their success -- but Serbian government overrules court's decision and decides to hand Milosevic over to the U.N. war crimes tribunal

6. 00 p.m (1700 GMT) -- Reports that Milosevic is about to handed over to the U.N. start to filter out of Belgrade

6:30 p.m. (1730 GMT) -- Milosevic is removed from Yugoslav prison

7:00 p.m. (1800 GMT) -- Milosevic leaves Belgrade

- The move prompts Yugoslav president Kostunica to condemn the extradition, deeming it unconstitutional

- Several hundred people gather outside in city's central square and outside the Belgrade prison where Milosevic was held.

Friday June 29

00.51 a.m. (2251 GMT) -- Milosevic arrives in Netherlands at the Valkenburg air base in a Lockheed p-3 Orion surveillance aircraft

1:20 a.m. (2320 GMT) -- Milosevic is taken to the tribunal jail via helicopter
