Russia blast claims sixth victim

MOSCOW, Russia -- A woman injured in a bombing at an outdoor market in southern Russia has died, bringing the death toll in the blast to six.

The woman died overnight in a hospital, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov told The Associated Press.

The other victims of the Sunday explosion in Astrakhan were two young girls, two teenage girls and an adult woman, the Interfax news agency reported. About 30 people were injured.

Tuesday has been declared a day of mourning in the Astrakhan region, located 1,400 km (850 miles) southeast of Moscow.

Officials believe the blast was caused by a device consisting of about 200 grams of explosive placed in a bottle, news reports said.

Explosions at markets have become common in Russia in recent years. Officials usually blame them on business disputes or on terrorists from Chechnya, where Russia is fighting separatists.

The most recent such explosion was July 26 in Ryazan, in which four people were injured.
