Gunmen take hostages in MacedoniaTETOVO, Macedonia (CNN) -- Several gunmen took over buses Sunday carrying workers to a factory about five miles north of Tetovo after Macedonian police arrested seven former members of the National Liberation Army, including three commanders. According to another ex-NLA commander, the gunmen released a few of the hostages but still had others. It's not known how many hostages were originally taken. Negotiators from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and other international groups were talking with the gunmen later Sunday. The incident prompted the Macedonian government to cancel an important session of the parliament for Monday, in which representatives were to vote on the amendments to the modified preamble of the country's constitution. |
