Spanish royal suffers stroke
MADRID, Spain -- The son-in-law of Spain's King Juan Carlos is in a critical condition after suffering a cerebal attack while exercising. Jaime de Marichalar is in hospital after collapsing while training on an exercise bike. De Marichalar, the duke of Lugo and husband of princess Infanta Elena, fell ill on Saturday night while riding the bicycle in a gym near his home, officials said. He suffered a partial stroke and was on a respirator, said Jose Eugenio Guerrero, head of intensive care at Gregorio Maranon Hospital. He added that it was too early to give a prognosis of the duke's condition. De Marichalar and his wife, the eldest of Juan Carlos' daughters, have two children, Felipe Juan Froilan, aged three, and one-year-old Victoria Federica. |
