Connery voted most popular British actor
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- James Bond star Sean Connery has been ranked as Britain's greatest film star of all time in a survey published on Monday. The Scottish star, still viewed as a sex symbol at the age of 70, beat Anthony Hopkins in an Orange Film Survey of more than 10,000 movie fans. Next came Alec Guiness, Hugh Grant and Michael Caine. Laurence Olivier, hailed as Britain's greatest classical actors of the 20th century, just scrapes into the list at Number 10. Julie Walters topped the list of leading British actresses ahead of Judi Dench, Catherine Zeta Jones and Elizabeth Hurley. Copyright 2001 Reuters. All rights reserved.
