Anastacia to boom for soccer world cup
LONDON, England - - American popstar Anastacia will perform the official song of the 2002 soccer world cup. The singer's recording label Sony Music said Tuesday she would unveil the song Boom for the first time at the draw for the world cup finals on Saturday at Busan, South Korea. The song was "a perfect rallying cry for football fans the world over," Sony said. Anastacia won the Best Pop category at the MTV awards in the United States earlier this month after her debut album "Not That Kind" sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. She also won praise after declaring that the September 11 attacks would not stop her travelling. "I don't believe in intimidation," she said. A symphony orchestra will perform the official world cup anthem, written by Greek composer Vangelis. His piece includes contributions from musicians from South Korea and Japan, joint hosts for next year's finals. |
