Bomb blast kills two in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A bomb blast at a Baghdad bus station killed two people and wounded a number of others, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported Friday.

The INA reported the bomb was placed between two buses and went off at 12:15 a.m. Friday (2115 GMT Thursday).

Baghdad police were investigating but no claim of responsibility was announced.

Security sources told the news agency, however, that "agents of treachery and vice" carried out the attack, "planned by recognized and well-known circles linked with the Zionists and the Americans."

The source gave no further details.

Iraq has blamed its former foe Iran for several attacks in the past, including a rocket attack on Baghdad in September.

Since the United States launched an attack on Iraqi defense systems last month, however, Baghdad has been more strident in its condemnations of the Americans and Israel.

Friday's bombing was the second in the same area in less than a month. One person was injured in a blast on February 25.
