Iraq says it may have hit coalition planeBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The Iraqi military says it may have hit a U.S. or British warplane over northern Iraq on Wednesday. The Iraqi News Agency quoted a military spokesman as saying, "Evidence points to the probability of one plane getting hit." Officials at the Pentagon in Washington said flights were flown over the northern no-fly zone of Iraq on Wednesday, but all coalition planes returned without damage. Northern and southern no-fly zones were imposed to protect Kurdish and Shiite groups against attacks from Iraqi forces. Baghdad does not recognize the zones and has repeatedly tested U.S. and British forces patrolling them by air. |
