Teen driving laws limit passengers

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In an effort to keep young drivers safe, more states are placing stricter laws on teen drivers.

On July 1, Viginia joins 15 states and the District of Columbia in implementing teen driving laws which limit the number of passengers allowed in the car.

Since a carful of friends, music and conversation may distract new drivers, lawmakers and parents says these restrictions will help decrease the number of American teen-agers who die in automobile accidents (the leading cause of death for American teens).

CNN's Kathleen Koch talks to teens and parents about the new teen driving laws.
