Tennessee lawmaker dead in apparent suicide
KINGSPORT, Tennessee (CNN) -- An investigation was under way Wednesday night into the apparent suicide of state Rep. Keith Westmoreland, police said. Westmoreland reportedly was under police investigation for alleged incidents of indecent exposure. A note had been found, police said, but its contents were not immediately released, according to a statement from Mark Addington, Kingsport's police chief. Westmoreland's body was discovered in his home about 8:25 p.m. by his brother and a son who called 911 and reported Westmoreland had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the wound was self inflicted," the statement said. |
