Bush to host Chinese leader at ranchCNN Washington Bureau KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (CNN) -- President Bush will host Chinese President Jiang Zemin and his wife at Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, on October 25, the White House announced Friday. "This visit is an opportunity for the president to work with the Chinese leader on a number of areas of mutual concern and to make progress in resolving outstanding differences," said Press Secretary Ari Fleischer in a written statement. Topics of the meeting will include nuclear nonproliferation and the U.S. campaign against terrorism. Bush has increasingly used his Crawford ranch as a meeting place with foreign dignitaries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mexican President Vicente Fox, whose own ranch Bush visited in February 2001 on his first trip outside the United States as president, will visit Crawford in late August. |
