Carmakers: Renault
(CNN) -- Renault is France's second-largest carmaker behind Peugeot. It produces a range of popular small and mid-sized cars, including the Clio and Megane, and isn't afraid of innovation with the launch of Avantime, the innovative coupe it sees as a key to its future success. At the same time, it holds stakes in a number of Asian motor manufacturers. Renault owns 37 percent of Nissan, Japan's third-largest carmaker, and plans to increase its holding to 44 percent. It also owns Romania's Dacia and 70 percent of Samsung Motors. The French government, which nationalized the carmaker in the 1940s, plans to reduce its stake in Renault to 25 percent from 44 percent. Renault also owns a 20 percent stake in AB Volvo, the world's second-largest truck maker, after combining its Renault Truck/Mack commercial vehicles division with the Swedish company.
