New trends in exercise
(CNN) -- The numbers are alarming: More than 61 percent of Americans are either overweight or obese. Is the reason for this national health concern related to the lack of motivation toward exercise? For some, the problem does lie with motivation. Experts say one way to get people motivated is to provide new and exciting ways to exercise. In health clubs across the country, group indoor cycling has become the exercise of choice for many Americans. Now, the program has gone underwater. Hydroride, a name used at Crunch Fitness in Atlanta, is described as a complete cardiovascular workout. The resistance is 12 times greater than on land.
Another form of exercise that's gaining popularity is "Bikram Yoga," known to most as "hot yoga." The kick people get out of this form of exercise is that they're exercising in a room at a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports on these exercise trends that are increasing in popularity. |
