One suspect in Levy case described as 'predatory'

(CNN) -- When Judge Noel A. Kramer sentenced Ingmar Guandeque to 10 years in prison for assaulting two women she called his an "odd case" and suggested the defendant was extremely dangerous and "predatory," according to the Department of Justice.

Guandeque is now one of several suspects being looked at in connection with the Chandra Levy case, according to Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Charles Ramsey.

Levy's remains were found in the same area of Rock Creek Park where Guandeque, a native of El Salvador, assaulted two other women. The former Federal Bureau of Prisons intern was last seen in Washington April 30, 2001.

Guandeque pleaded guilty to two counts of assault with intent to commit robbery and was sentenced in February.

At his sentencing, Kramer said the case did not resemble the numerous robbery trials she had presided over because Guandeque never took any property, spent a lot of time following his victims through the park and then sought out physical confrontations with them.

The details of the two attacks were summarized in a press release from U.S. Attorney Roscoe C. Howard, Jr. after Guandeque was sentenced.

Guandeque ran behind the first woman on May 14, 2001, and assaulted her in an effort to steal her Walkman. The victim said he brandished a knife, grabbed her around the neck and pulled her to ground. She said she struggled, and when she pushed his face with her hand, he bit her.

She said he then fled, leaving her Walkman behind.

In the second attack on July 1, 2001, also in the early evening, he ran behind his victim until she reached the crest of a hill, grabbed her from behind and the two rolled down a ravine. The second victim said Guandeque held a knife to her throat and covered her mouth to mute her screams. She said she waited until he relaxed his grip and then she struggled free and ran.

The U.S. Park Police located Guandeque and arrested him.

Guandeque denied many of the details in the victims' reports, but did admit he grabbed both women in attempts to steal their music players.

He is serving his sentence in a federal prison in North Carolina.
