Harrison single hits the airwaves
LONDON, England -- Former Beatle George Harrison's first posthumous single has been released on the world's airwaves. The new track, "Stuck inside a cloud," had previously been available on the Internet, but was given its first play on radio stations on Wednesday. The single, described by U.S. newspaper Newsday as being "carried by Harrison's distinctive, sweet voice," is one of 11 new tracks from the forthcoming album, "Brainwashed." "Brainwashed" will go on sale on November 19 -- two weeks before the first anniversary of Harrison's death from cancer aged 58. Twenty-five songs were originally recorded for the album, but Jeff Lynne, who produced "Brainwashed" with Harrison's son Dhani, says the final cut has "a spiritual energy that went into the lyrics as well as the music." A tribute concert featuring the former Beatles and other stars including Eric Clapton, will be held at London's Royal Albert Hall on November 30, the anniversary of Harrison's death. Harrison, dubbed "the quiet Beatle," is also being honoured on Wednesday with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Independent Film Awards.
