Cameron Diaz: 'The Sweetest Thing'
In Style (In Style) -- There's something about Cameron. "Her smile is amazing," says makeup artist Robin Fredriksz. "Her lips are a really deep color." To enhance them ever so lightly for the actress' latest role as hip San Francisco single woman Christina Walters in "The Sweetest Thing," Fredriksz applied a red lip gloss. It worked on her eyes too. "It's the secret to making them pop," Fredriksz explains. The look is bold, but so is Walters, who enlists the help of two friends (played by Christina Applegate and Selma Blair) to woo a cute and aloof guy. Throughout the chase she looks ready to seduce. "Her clothes are deconstructed and body-conscious, and her hair is very swingy, sexy and touchable," says hairstylist Darrell Redleaf-Fielder. Is it any wonder that Walters ultimately gets her man? Hair
Redleaf-Fielder worked Artec Kiwi Blow Serum through Diaz's damp hair and sprayed Phytomist Instant Hydrator on the crown. To downplay dark roots, he created a zigzag part. Next he clipped down the side-swept bangs while they air-dried "so they're flatter and you don't get that 'mall bangs' effect," he says. After blow-drying the rest of the hair with a round brush, he used Artec Kiwi Shine Wax to tame fly-aways. For added shape and an airy quality, he created bends in the hair with a curling iron. Finally, he set the look with a mist of Artec Kiwi Detailer hairspray. EyesUsing a wet brush, Fredriksz lined top lashes with Stila Java shadow. Next she brushed Stila shadow in Launey on lids and Toffee in creases. For dimension she dotted Calvin Klein clear Eye Gloss and Delux Beauty lip gloss in Rowan on centers of the lids. Then she used Lancome Magnificils brown mascara on top and bottom lashes. Skin"Cameron doesn't like the matte makeup feeling," says Fredriksz. So she just dusted on Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation in 40 Watts and applied Stila Cheek Color in Cream to the apples of the cheeks. LipsSkipping lip liner, Fredriksz applied nothing but Delux Beauty Rowan lip gloss. |
