Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon: 'Bad Company'

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon: 'Bad Company'

(In Style) -- Streetwise Jake Hayes and CIA spy Kevin Pope (Chris Rock in a dual role) are identical, separated-at-birth twins.

Working undercover as an antiques dealer in Prague, Kevin is tragically murdered just days before he's set to buy a nuclear device. Now the CIA needs Jake to pretend he's Kevin and get his hands on that black-market bomb.

Jake, however, would rather get his hands on CNN reporter Nicole (Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon), Kevin's bombshell girlfriend. She's not like any of the girls from Jake's New York City 'hood. "Nicole's very well traveled, very sophisticated, very savvy," says makeup artist Kris Evans.

Face

Evans wanted to enhance Beauvais-Nilon's own natural beauty with soft and sophisticated makeup. "I think people that are very sophisticated are very clean and simple with their makeup," Evans says. "I didn't want the makeup to wear her."

To achieve the look, Evans started with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. "That really helps hold the makeup so it doesn't go into the pores, and it stays on the face a lot longer," she says. Then for a base she custom-blended Aircraft's Rich Tan (No. 500), Golden (No. 400) and Bronze (No. 325), and applied with an airbrush.

She gingerly dabbed MAC blush in Fever onto cheeks ("That stuff is really potent.") and MAC Pink Glow directly onto the apples. Evans finished with a dusting of Stagelight Cosmetics translucent loose powder in Dark.

Eyes

For Beauvais-Nilon's eyes, Evans used Seinazur eye shadows (Frends Beauty Supply in L.A., 888-737-3637). "They come in these big palettes that I really like," she says. "I can mix and match and all my colors are right there."

She used Pearl Brown on Beauvais-Nilon's lids, and contoured with Bronze Mystery and Silk Gold. She also used Silk Gold on the brow bones. Evans lined Beauvais-Nilon's lids with Make Up For Ever Color Liner in black and finished with a coat of Maybelline Great Lash mascara in Very Black.

Lips

Evans used Linda Mason Elements lip colors in Ruby and Bronze (The Art of Beauty in N.Y.C., 212-625-0490), and topped them with the line's black lip gloss.

Body

For that sexy shimmer on Beauvais-Nilon's shoulders, cheekbones and décolleté, Evans used Nars Body Glow.
