Harrelson taxi case dropped

Woody Harrelson had been due to answer bail
Woody Harrelson had been due to answer bail

LONDON, England -- Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson will not face charges in Britain in connection with an alleged incident involving a London taxi driver.

Harrelson allegedly damaged Les Darnell's taxi after reportedly going "berserk" on a night out in the city last month.

But it was revealed on Monday that the case has been dropped after Harrelson paid the cab driver for the repairs.

Black cab driver Dartnell withdrew his complaint on Friday after the actor handed over almost £550 ($844).

Harrelson, star of Natural Born Killers and Indecent Proposal, had been due to answer bail on Monday.

But a Scotland Yard spokeswoman confirmed to CNN that police would take no further action.

The 40-year-old -- whose next film is called "Anger Management" -- allegedly went on the rampage outside a club on June 6.

He was said to have kicked the cab, smashing a doorlock and ashtray, before running off.

Dartnell told The Sun tabloid newspaper: "I turned round and he was kicking the inside of my taxi. He had suddenly gone completely bonkers.

"He was kicking the glass and trying to get out. I tried to find a space to pull over but he had already yanked back the door and broken it."

Harrelson is in London for rehearsals for the upcoming West End play "On An Average Day."
