(InStyle) -- The event: The premiere of Universal's "Red Dragon" at the historic Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

In this prequel to "The Silence of the Lambs," directed by Brett Ratner ("Rush Hour 2"), Edward Norton and Harvey Keitel play FBI agents who unite with their nemesis Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Sir Anthony Hopkins) and use their prowess to catch a demented serial killer, known as the Tooth Fairy (Ralph Fiennes). The audience at the Ziegfeld shrieked when Norton's character connected certain points in the mystery of who was slaughtering people during every full moon.

THE GUEST LIST

Norton and girlfriend Salma Hayek, Hopkins, Keitel, Fiennes, Josh Hartnett, Val Kilmer, Chelsea Clinton and beau Ian Klaus, Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Katie Holmes, Rebecca Gayheart, David Alan Grier.

THE SETTING

At the after-party at the Hudson hotel's book-filled library, Clinton, dressed in black, stayed close to her boyfriend, while women surrounded Val Kilmer. Hayek sat on Norton's lap, while a group of mostly male models played pool behind them. Gayheart, dressed in pink satin, welcomed the evening's guests, playing the role of unofficial host.
