RELATED

(Entertainment Weekly) -- The first "Back to the Future" movie is the most heartwarming, the most retro-resonant sci-fi film this side of "E.T."

The second is a canny amplification of the first (and perhaps cinema's most complex exploration of the intricacies of time travel).

And the third ... well, the third is a pretty decent Western.

Together, they form the other great science fiction trilogy DVD fans have been lusting for.

Luckily, this collection doesn't disappoint, packed as it is with informative commentaries from director Robert Zemeckis and producers Bob Gale and Neil Canton, new retrospective docs, and video commentary from Michael J. Fox.

The deleted scenes are astonishing for what they include (an intensely homophobic scene that should've remained buried) and omit (any of the weeks of footage Zemeckis shot with Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly).

Still, the films look and sound a hundred times better than they do on their current basic-cable stomping grounds. That in itself is cause for celebration.
