McCartney announces Drivin' tour
LONDON, England -- Sir Paul McCartney is to undertake his first major tour of the United States in almost a decade, the former Beatle has said. The 14-date Drivin' USA tour in April will take McCartney from coast to coast -- California to New York City. Details of the venues, including one in Canada, are yet to be announced. McCartney said he also plans to tour Europe in May, but no specific dates have been announced. The star, who has played in more than 600 live concerts during his 40 year career, promised a "show like nothing he has ever staged before." "I'm very excited to be getting back on the road, playing a with a new band and including some of the songs that I haven't played live before," he said in a statement on Monday. McCartney, 59, who was in New York on September 11 when two planes were flown into the World Trade Center, has played several concerts to raise funds for those affected by the disaster. He recently released "Driving Rain," his first album of new material in four years. |
