Kylie hit writers scoop Novellos

Kylie
Kylie: International hit of the year, best dance song and most performed work

LONDON, England -- Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue was a triple winner on Thursday as the music world honoured top songwriters at the Ivor Novello Awards in London.

This year's awards were dominated by women, with reclusive British singer Kate Bush -- who has not released new material for nearly a decade -- given an outstanding contribution prize and Dido named songwriter of the year.

Kylie's songwriting team of Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis picked up awards for best dance song, most performed work and international hit of the year for her chart-topper "Can't Get You Out Of My Head."

Best song musically and lyrically went to U2's hit "Walk On," while best contemporary song went to "Shining Light" by Ash.

Other honorary awards went to Simply Red star Mick Hucknall for outstanding song collection, while Sting took the international achievement prize.

Abba stars Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus took the special international award.

The Ivors, awarded only to British songwriting teams, were inaugurated 47 years ago as a response to the domination of U.S. pop music in the UK -- a trans-Atlantic rivalry that still continues.
