What's Aimee Mann listening to?

(CNN) -- Ask Aimee Mann what she's listening to nowadays, and she has one word. OK, three.

"Coldplay, Coldplay, Coldplay," she says, referring to the British band's new album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head."

But that's if you're talking about her CD player. If you want to try an older technology -- say, the Victrola that husband Michael Penn bought as a gift -- the music's a little different.

"[Penn's] grandfather gave us a bunch of 78s, so we've dusted those off," she says. "His grandfather was a rabbi, so we're listening to cantors and old Russian music."

No word on whether that music will have any influence on Mann's next CD. But if a guitar lick suddenly gives way to "L'cha Dodi," you'll know what happened.
