Schiffer: "Great news"

LONDON, England -- The honeymoon is over for newlywed supermodel Claudia Schiffer -- she is to be a mother!

The German model, who married British film producer Matthew Vaughn just over nine weeks ago, is pregnant with her first child.

Her London spokeswoman told Reuters on Monday: "We can confirm she is pregnant and has got through the first trimester.

"Matt and Claudia are absolutely over the moon and think it is great news."

The spokeswoman would not give any further details, or say exactly how far through the pregnancy Schiffer was.

The couple married on May 25 at an English country church near Coldham Hall, their Elizabethan manor house in the picturesque village of Lawshall in Suffolk, eastern England.

Schiffer, 31, is said to have fallen for Vaughn after he gave her a tortoise.

Vaughn was best man at Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding two years ago and produced Ritchie's hit film "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels."
