(CNN) -- The nominations for the 54th annual Emmy Awards were announced Thursday morning in Los Angeles from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre. The HBO series "Six Feet Under" led all nominees with 23 nominations, including best drama series. "The West Wing," the winner the last two years for best drama series, picked up 21 nods, including one for best drama. The other nominees for best drama series are "CSI," "Law & Order," and "24." The nominees for best comedy series are "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Friends," "Sex and the City," and "Will & Grace." Nominees for best actor in a drama are Michael Chiklis, "The Shield"; Michael C. Hall, "Six Feet Under"; Peter Krause, "Six Feet Under"; Martin Sheen, "The West Wing"; and Kiefer Sutherland, "24."
Nominees for best actress in a drama are Amy Brenneman, "Judging Amy"; Frances Conroy, "Six Feet Under"; Jennifer Garner, "Alias"; Rachel Griffiths, "Six Feet Under"; and Allison Janney, "The West Wing." Nominees for best actor in a comedy are Kelsey Grammer, "Frasier"; Matt LeBlanc, "Friends"; Bernie Mac, "The Bernie Mac Show"; Matthew Perry, "Friends"; and Ray Romano, "Everybody Loves Raymond." Nominees for best actress in a comedy are Jennifer Aniston, "Friends"; Patricia Heaton, "Everybody Loves Raymond"; Jane Kaczmarek, "Malcolm in the Middle"; Debra Messing, "Will & Grace"; and Sarah Jessica Parker, "Sex and the City." In a surprise, last year's best comedy actor, "Will & Grace's" Eric McCormack -- who presented the nominations with "ER's" Laura Innes -- did not receive a nomination in the category at all. HBO led in nominations overall, with 93. HBO is owned by AOL Time Warner, the parent company of CNN. The HBO series "Band of Brothers" took home the first Emmy for interactive TV programming, the Academy announced Wednesday. The series, produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, is based on a Stephen Ambrose work about a U.S. Army airborne unit in Germany during World War II. The award will be presented Sunday. |
