'Sopranos' premiere
InStyle (InStyle) -- The event: The September 5 kickoff and after-party of "The Sopranos"' fourth season at Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center in New York. THE GUEST LISTCast members James Gandolfini, Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, Drea de Matteo, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Robert Iler, Aida Turturro, Steven Van Zandt, plus Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Matthew Perry, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Regis Philbin and others. THE SETTINGFirst, 4,000 lucky attendees filed into Radio City Music Hall for a sneak peek at the first two episodes of the hit HBO mob series. We're not giving anything away, but get ready for some fireworks from troubled daughter Meadow and more soul-searching from long-suffering wife Carmela. Two hours later, everyone strolled half a block to the Rockefeller Plaza skating rink, which was converted into a rockin' outdoor club. Guests munched myriad Italian treats, including -- what else? -- lasagna, baked chicken and marinated vegetables.
But the party wasn't your average tame family affair. Sure, Bracco, who plays the eternally patient psychiatrist Dr. Melfi, brought along her two daughters, Margaux and Stella, but most guests let their hair down and partied until the wee hours of the morning. Dapper don Gandolfini, who avoids the press much like his alter ego Tony Soprano steers clear of his scheming sister Janice, was besieged by admirers. And Sigler, who plays his onscreen daughter, was content to hang out with her pals, but did reveal a little of what's ahead for her character, college student Meadow Soprano. "She's maturing a little bit. She moves out of the house, but she's still a drama queen," says Sigler, adding that she shares a few of Meadow's troublemaking antics. "The only thing I ever did was throw a big bad party in my house. I was a senior in high school and yes, I got busted." OVERHEARDHBO's stars turned out in full force to show their support for cable's most famous mafia clan. "These are our bosses, so if they throw a party, we go!" said Davis, sharing a table with her very pregnant "Sex and the City" co-star Nixon. "Plus, we love 'The Sopranos,' and I'm a die-hard fan. I wouldn't miss this."
