"Marvel vs. Capcom 2"

(CNN) -- We're kicking off 2003 by looking at two games that Dan "Shoe" Hsu highlighted for us on CNN Headline News: "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" and "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4."

In the event that you weren't glued to Headline News watching the interview with the editor in chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly, don't worry, I've got his comments right here in this week's online edition of "Big Video Game Hunting."

According to Shoe, "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" is "the craziest fighting game around." You control legendary action figures that battle it out head-to-head.

We're talking A-list names like Spider-Man, the Hulk and Captain America.

Sharing the spotlight with them is a cast of characters from Capcom, more than 50 playable figures in all -- the most in any video game.

With so many characters, it's no surprise that three-on-three tag-team matches are featured. Other features include the ability to change characters in the heat of battle and the ability to force opponents to change theirs.

Shoe called "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" "a really fun chaotic game for fighting game fans."

Looking to try it out yourself? Then go ahead and fire up the Sony PlayStation 2 and get in on the clash of the titans.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4"

The other title Shoe discussed was "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4."

He told us he was an avid player of last year's "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3" -- so much so that he was almost ready to hang up the skateboarding series of games.

That's all changed with the release of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4." It's the latest title from the franchise that Shoe said "sets the standard that all other action sports games kind of rip off and follow."

According to Shoe, "Pro Skater 4" is not a dramatic overhaul from the previous Tony Hawk games, but minor changes -- such as making it "easier to do combos" -- have made it "accessible to a bigger audience."

In "Pro Skater 4" you basically jam around in open areas and pull tricks at your own pace. The simplicity makes it what Shoe called "a really good game for various levels of gamers."

If you're looking to pick up a copy of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4," you'll find it available for all major gaming consoles.
