NHTSA announces car seat recall
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A safety recall was announced Friday for a pair of car seats the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said have inadequate or missing components. Evenflo Co. will provide owners of their Triumph convertible child restraints manufactured between October 20, 2001, and January 21, 2002, with a repair kit to correct parts that may not meet design specifications, the agency said. The agency also alerted consumers that certain Graco SnugRide infant seats are missing key components used to attach the base to the carrier shell. The agency urged owners to inspect the seats for hooks, pins and "U" bars connecting the two parts, and to use the seat without the base if any of those parts are missing. Graco said the car seat can be used without the base, and that it will provide a replacement seat or base for those who find they are missing parts. Information from Evenflo can be obtained by calling 1-800-425-1967. Graco's number is 1-800-345-4109. The NHTSA's Auto Safety Hotline number is 1-888-327-4236. |
