BOSTON, Massachusetts (CNN) -- A Europa Airlines flight traveling from Cancun to Rome was diverted to Logan International Airport at Boston on Wednesday morning because of an unruly passenger, authorities said.

That passenger, who had to be tied down, was being detained at state police barracks at the airport for questioning by the FBI, according to Massport officials.

Flight 2065, with 300 passengers and a crew of 13 aboard, landed at the airport at 9:10 a.m. EDT.

The pilot declared an emergency and the Boeing 777 was escorted to its landing by two F-16 fighter jets, officials said.

An FBI spokeswoman said the man could face charges for his behavior.

The man, she said, " woke up in a foul mood. He appeared intoxicated, harassed the passenger next to him and was then subdued and tied down."
