Murder suspect's vehicle found at airport
SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- A vehicle believed to be linked to fugitive Christian Longo, accused of killing his wife and children in Oregon, was found Sunday at the San Francisco International Airport, authorities said. Two officers found the SUV, a green Dodge Durango, in the short-term parking lot, said Sgt. Lawrence Ratti of the San Francisco Police Department. Beth Anne Steele, spokeswoman for the FBI in Portland, Oregon, said a parking ticket inside the car indicated it had been there since December 26. It was the same vehicle that had been stolen from a dealership in Portland and it had dealer license plates, she said. Divers discovered the bodies of Longo's wife and son in Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon, December 27, the FBI said. The bodies of the other two children were found in Alsea Bay in Waldport, Oregon, on December 19 and 22. Authorities in Lincoln County, Oregon, charged Longo, 27, with seven counts of aggravated murder: four counts for the killing of his wife, Mary Jane, 35, and their children: Zachary, 5; Sadie Ann, 3; and Madison, 2. The three additional counts were based on the ages of the children and the fact that there were multiple killings, Barnett said. Police issued a warrant December 28 for Longo's arrest. The FBI is pursuing Longo on a federal fugitive warrant. Ratti said Longo is believed to be using the aliases Jason Joseph Fortner and John Thomas Christopher. The last reported sightings of him came from the San Francisco area shortly after Christmas. The Longos lived near the Oregon coast, first near Waldport and then in Newport, about 100 miles southwest of Portland, the FBI said. Before that, the family lived in Michigan. |
