L.A. building under construction catches fire
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- More than 125 firefighters Monday worked to contain a fierce fire that engulfed a multi-story building under construction in west Los Angeles. No injuries were reported. The blaze was reported at 11:58 a.m. across the street from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said no evacuations were required. "We had initial reports that workers were trapped but after a frantic search, no one was found," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
"The building, which was under renovation, could collapse like a house of cards, but there is no immediate danger to nearby occupants." Authorities have not determined the cause of the fire. |
