Charismatic Karzai leads with a new lookNEW YORK (CNN) -- People are watching Hamid Karzai. He's the interim leader of a headline-grabbing nation and he looks good, at least that's the word on the street.
Regal, chisel-cheeked and bronzed, Karzai captures gazes donned in his distinctive dress. The furry hats and five-foot-long sleeves led one fashion aficionado to label his look "Karzai chic." Karzai recently visited New York and Washington. His visit is the first by an Afghan leader to the United States since 1963. Karzai met with President Bush and members of the Cabinet and Congress and was a guest at the State of the Union address Tuesday night. While in New York, he visited Ground Zero and addressed a session of the U.N. Security Council. CNN's Jeanne Moos reports on the leader's look that makes him stand out in a sea of sameness. |
