Chopper crashes near Daytona BeachDAYTONA BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- A helicopter crashed Saturday in a swamp just west of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, police said. Volusia County Sheriff's Department spokesman Gary Davidson said authorities located the wreckage shortly after noon about 15 miles south of Daytona Beach, where the Daytona 500 was to be held Sunday. Davidson said he was not certain when the helicopter had crashed.
