Tour buses collide in eastern VirginiaACCOMAC, Virginia (CNN) -- At least eight people were injured Saturday when two tour buses collided head-on near Accomac, Virginia, near the Maryland-Virginia border, police and emergency officials said. Earlier reports indicated 15 people had been injured, and a mass casualty unit was dispatched to the scene. A dispatcher with the Virginia State Police confirmed that an accident happened, but had no further information. Accomac is on the Delmarva Peninsula, which is connected to Maryland and separated from the rest of Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel crosses over to Norfolk at the tip of the peninsula. Accomac is about 20 miles from the Maryland border, and about 40 miles from the 17-mile long span across the bay. |
