Medical helicopter crashes in CaliforniaSUSANVILLE, California (CNN) -- A medical helicopter carrying a pilot and two other crew members crashed Thursday in a shallow lake near this town in northeastern California, authorities said. Two of those aboard have been rescued, and a search was under way for the third person, according to the Lassen County Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's office said the helicopter was believed to be returning from Reno, Nevada, when it crashed shortly after 3 p.m. (6 p.m. EST). It went down in a lake about 20 miles southwest of Susanville, a town of nearly 7,500 people about 75 miles northwest of Reno. The names of those onboard have not been released. |
