Egyptian man in custody after arrest at Miami airportMIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- An Egyptian man is in custody after his arrest Friday night at Miami International Airport, and a search of the man -- who had arrived on a flight from Spain -- turned up box cutters, according to an Immigration and Naturalization Service spokesman. Officials discovered an immigration violation when the man, identified as Aly Sabra Galal Abdell, flew in from Spain, INS spokesman Rodney Germain said. Authorities then discovered the box cutters when they gave conducted a more thorough search, Germain said. Federal law prohibits passengers from carrying knives, box cutters and other blades on airplanes. Germain would not describe the nature of the immigration violation, but The Associated Press reported that the man had been deported in January. The September 11 hijackers are believed to have used box cutters to overpower crew members when they seized control of four jets. |
