Delta flight diverted after assaultBy From CNN Correspondent Kathleen Koch WASHINGTON, USA (CNN) -- A Delta flight from Atlanta to Spain was diverted to Canada Tuesday night after a passenger bit a flight attendant, authorities said. Delta Flight 108 landed in St. John's, in the Canadian province of Newfoundland, at 10:48 p.m. EST Tuesday, and the passenger was removed, according to Laura Brown, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The flight continued without incident to Madrid. Brown said the passenger was reported to possibly be either intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. The flight attendant was treated by a physician on board, and she returned to her duties. The passenger, whose identity and hometown were not released, was arrested by Royal Canadian Mounted police. He is charged with four counts of assault and is scheduled to appear before a magistrate in St. John's Wednesday. |
