ROCKDALE, Illinois (CNN) -- A massive five-alarm fire was burning out of control Friday night in this town southwest of Chicago, fueled by gallons of paint and chemicals inside the building, a fire official said.

The blaze began around 8:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. ET) in an abandoned warehouse and was quickly brought under control, but not before it caught another, larger warehouse on fire, said Lt. John Lindsey of the Seneca Fire Department.

The larger warehouse is used to paint large machinery and is filled with "massive amounts" of paint, paint thinner, and other chemicals, Lindsey said.

The fire there was out of control two hours later and had triggered five alarms. "By the time you get to five, you're calling everybody to support you in the general area," said Lindsey.

No one was inside either warehouse when the fires broke out and no one had been injured.

Rockdale is near Joliet, just southwest of Chicago.
