Man shoots girlfriend, holds her in garage for six daysBIG BEAR LAKE, California (CNN) -- San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 34-year-old man on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly shot his girlfriend and held her in a garage for nearly a week while he treated her wounds, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department said Sunday. Christina Stebbins, 35, was listed in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center with wounds to her leg, arm and abdomen. Her boyfriend, Christian Leroy Lindblad, allegedly shot Stebbins on June 27 in the couple's home, according to the sheriff's public information officer, Robin Haynall. Haynall said Lindblad refused to call for help, and instead kept Stebbins in the garage, where he kept her wounds clean, doused with antiseptics and wrapped. A family friend learned of the situation on Wednesday and alerted authorities, who found Stebbins on a mattress in the garage. Lindblad is being held on a $500,000 bond, Haynall said. |
