Dozens of cars pileup on Denver highway

Although 20-30 cars collided, only minor injuries have been reported.

EVERGREEN, Colorado (CNN) -- Colorado State Police and other law enforcement agencies Tuesday were responding to the scene of a massive pileup of 20-30 cars on an icy highway west of Denver, a dispatcher said. Police reported some minor injuries.

"It's just a mess out there," said the state police dispatcher.

She said Interstate 70 was closed going westbound.

Colorado State Police spokesman Dan Elder said so far, only minor injuries have been reported.

A light, freezing rain has been falling in the region for several hours. Temperatures are in the 20s.
