BALTIMORE, Maryland (CNN) -- A man severely burned in a firebombing at a Baltimore that killed his wife and five children died Wednesday afternoon of his injuries.

A spokeswoman at Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center said Carnell Dawson died at the hospital. He had suffered burns over 80 percent of his body in the firebombing of the family's rowhouse last week. He jumped out of an upstairs window to escape the flames.

Police say the house was targeted because Dawson's wife, Angela, had called police repeatedly to report drug activity in the neighborhood. Darrell Brooks, 21, has been charged with murder in connection with the fire.

Mrs. Dawson and her children will be buried Thursday in Baltimore. Carnell Dawson was the father of three of the children.
