Gas prices drop more than a nickel per gallon
CAMARILLO, California (CNN) -- Gas prices dropped by more than a nickel per gallon to $1.40 during the past two weeks, a national survey said Sunday. The survey of more than 7,000 gas stations, conducted November 22, found the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular was down 5.6 cents from what it had been two weeks prior, said Trilby Lundberg, publisher of the Lundberg Survey. She cited two reasons for the drop: Crude oil prices have tumbled from more than $30 per barrel to less than $27, and a seasonal drop in demand for gas means there is ample supply. The drop was felt in all regions of the country, she said. Indianapolis drivers paid the least, at $1.12 per gallon, and Honolulu drivers paid the most, at $1.69. Here are some other prices: Atlanta: $1.19 Los Angeles: $1.54 Las Vegas: $1.41 Portland, Maine: $1.47 Burlington, Vermont: $1.48 Boston: $1.50 Seattle: $1.36 St. Louis $1.27 Chicago: $1.53
